AND THE WINNER IS .......

2

I was thinking about my wardrobe and how some pieces work mighty hard, while others kind of languish in the background. Maybe it’s nearing the ‘silly season’ and that’s the reason for my whimsical nature but I thought why not give an award to the one garment that really has nailed it for me over the years. We have the Oscars, BAFTA’s and so on, so why shouldn’t I celebrate an article of clothing that I basically couldn’t live without? One that is worthy of red carpet honours.

I’m not talking here about undergarments. For me this piece is flexible and could adapt to any occasion. It must be comfortable to wear, easy to launder, doesn’t date and even better, doesn’t crease! Any garment that could live up to this set of criteria is a godsend in my book and worth every penny that I might have spent on it.

So, after some thought and deliberation, my Wardrobe Winner is this:

My beloved jumpsuit from PLUMO

Gosh, I must have bought this nearly 5 years ago.

It’s travelled the world with me, been worn at image related conferences and training session, at parties, for shopping, going out to dinner and just pretty much walking around. I can add a smart shirt, casual T shirt, a polo neck sweater and/or a scarf to make it warmer. A smarter silky neck scarf, necklace or a cuff bracelet adds elegance. And very variety of footwear works - chunky boots, tasselled loafers, trainers, sliders, platforms, block heels, pointed stilettos, kitten heels, Mary Janes and even flip-flops. It looks great worn with a winter coat, a trench, a leather jacket, a Pea Coat, a long knitted cardigan or even a chunky sweater worn over the top. The designer kindly put a 2 inch piece of leather on the back zip fastener so it’s also really easy to get in and out of. I love it so much I have decided it can take centre stage in my up and coming trip to the capital of fashion - Paris - at the beginning of December.

Here’s the thing: We all have a hero piece that is our automatic ‘go to’. If you were to present an award to one item of your wardrobe, what would it be and why?
